Expert help needed to export a hairy flower as FBX / OBJ / GLB

Hello,

unfortunately I am not familiar with 3dsMax and run into an expert problem. 😞

I received an exported 3dsMax model as an OBJ file that I cannot open in TwinMotion or Blender.

The texture you see on the leaves is not really a texture. The coloring was created purely from materials and native mixing of maps within 3Ds Max, no external textures were used to create this end result.

Thus, the question is, can this model be exported to an FBX / OBJ / GLB file by baking these leafs to textures?

Thank you so much for any help!

Hi,

My guess would be that it needs to be baked first (excuse the pun).

More information about baking here: https://help.autodesk.com/view/3DSMAX/2022/ENU/?guid=GUID-B67A2495-89E4-464A-8913-35C957E950EB

And this looks really good too, as maybe a more simplex version? I don't have to ever bake much textures, so I'm maybe not the best person to ask. But I always wanted to try Flatiron.

Also try https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/datasmith/plugins for Twinmotion from 3DSMax, natively. Just make sure you're using the correct version. Twinmotion from Revit is a different version of the bridge.

Also this, which is meant ideally for Lumion Exports from Max, also works with tricky models too.

Happy Baking,

Hi,

many thanks for the quick answer. So additional steps are necessary in 3dsMax (before export) and the problem cannot be solved during import (e.g. in Blender or Unreal).

That's what I was afraid of (my problem is that I don't have 3dsMax).

Is there a very kind person who is familiar with baking and would give it a try? I would provide the model. Otherwise the model will unfortunately go into "archive", as I have probably run into a dead end here.

Many thanks for any help.

Since no one has answered, I wanted to ask politely if you could help me to bake and export the file?

Hi, unfortunately, in the kind of field I work in I only have minimal experience of texture baking in 3dsmax.

Hopefully someone else can step in.

Sorry,
