Edge Selection - can't select multiple edges

This just recently started happening to me and I cannot figure out for the life of me what happened. The screen shot shows me trying to select multiple edges. Whenever I let go of the right mouse button. Nothing is selected. I can select them individually.

you're probably stuck in Placement mode...although inspecting your icons up top, I don't think you are, but try this anyway:

..just hit q to go to select mode (or w or e or r)

(what is Placement mode ? create a Teapot say, rclick and pick Placement, click and drag the Teapot around......then add an Edit Poly and try to select some subobject....infuriating isn't it ?)

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

I'd like to help you with this selection problem.  I expected to see Window/Crossing set a certain way but it doesn't seem like it is in this image.  @Anonymous also had a good guess there.  I don't see anything in the screenshot that would do this, so I have a few questions for you.

Is this problem resolved for you?  Does this happen on all scenes or just this one?

The nuclear option here is to reset your user settings, if this was somehow a corrupted settings issue that would fix it.  Can you please try that for me if this problem is still happening to you?  Thanks!

Best Regards,

Hello @Anonymous,

The circle selection should still get multiple edges... that's strange.  Is this working now?  If not, could you please try to reset your user settings?

Here you go. I was distracted by my 8 month old son losing it. But this is the correct solution to my problem. Sorry about that.

Ah ok.  That's the Window/Crossing I was thinking it might be in the first post.  Somehow it must have been turned off for your first screenshot, but that makes a lot of sense.  I'm glad it's working now.  Thank you for taking the time to update the thread.
