When a scene file (.max) is opened, how does 3ds Max know what's the current project folder?

Thanks!

I personally don't use them and just mount a network drive with the same drive letter to all my local machines.  Even works with onedrive so remote folks are all on the same page without the project folders.  Coming from Maya though it was a hard habit to break.

@Diffus3d   Thank you for sharing the interesting workflow! The Project Folder in 3ds max seems to a little tricky to have quite a lot unspoken rules. Some practice would be needed to be comfortable with it.

It's a lot easier now with the project management toolbar to switch between projects, as I understand it.
