Hello Amirfakher,

sounds like a problem with a firewall on your renderslave, doesn`t it?

Some services from MentalRay need to be alowed to pass the firewall, names like "mi-raysat_-maxVersion-"

Hope this helps

Stephan

Hello Amirfakher,

the -.exes are usually located in Programs/.../[3dsMaxVersion]/Nividia/Satellite. But i do not know exactly which one. I think its the "...-server.exe". I would check the properties in "Services" of your windows administration panel... but i am just a grafican, not a administration guy, so here my wisdom faints.

Good Luck!

Stephan

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

@stephan_reischer is right, the mental ray satellite is actually a service, so you'll find it in Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services->Mental Ray Satellite service.  By default, services run with the default 'System' login and often doesn't have the rights to communicate outward in some group policy settings.  There was also a port configuration problem with the default installation of mental ray on 2017. You can find more information and a fix here, and this is where I would start.  If that fails, you might look at the permissions of the service as noted initially.  Also, make sure you have the latest service packs.

EDIT: Also keep in mind that the Windows Firewall must also be configured to allow 3ds Max Network Rendering and Mental Ray Network Rendering to communicate inward and outward.  The firewall program name for me is shown below.

If that fails let's talk more, but I think that is a good place to start.  Can you please look at those things for me?  Thank you!
