DCC Link, 3ds Max Interactive Issues

Anonymous

Max 2018 will not start when the DCC link plugin is installed.

If I uninstall the DCC link program, from Windows control panel, Max will start normally again.

3ds Max Interactive seems to work with or without the DCC Link app running.

3ds Max 2018 will not launch at all when the DCC plugin is running. Event log says fault in module "ExchangeStorePackageManager.dll"

When Max 2018 is running. the "Interactive" menu item jumps to the webpage about installing 3ds Max Interactive.

So, the docs say that these two apps should work together, but in my case they absolutely do not.  Any help here would be appreciated.

Thank you for the update @Anonymous.  Does removing that break your link to Max Interactive though?  Thanks for the info.

I´m so far absolutely not into 3ds max interactive so far so I can´t tell you if it is working. But find attached a screenshot what the menu in 3ds max 2018  likes like when I open Interactive. It is definetely different than before because before after deinstalling DCC link i just saw the link to download interactice.

best

Hello @Anonymous,

Thank you for the update.  I spent a good hour with one of the developers today.  (Nicest guy!)  He walked me through some ins and outs of the DCC link  files and what is probably happening to you here.

1) We should leave the DCC link installed, so reinstall Max Interactive please.

2) Reinstall update3 for 2018.

3) Then, go to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins and rename the folder 3dsMaxInteractiveDCCLink_Max2017.bundle to something else.  (Usually I add _bak to the end of it, a throwback from DoS days.)  Do the same for 2016 if you have it installed and are using Max 2016.  This should prevent this error from happening.

Can you please try that for me?
