Dark Mode when saving a file for 3DS Max?

Hello,

Whenever I save a file in 3DS Max, I get a very bright window showing the place I could save my file. I was wondering if it could be possible for the 3DS Max development team to change this to a couple of shades darker?

To prevent total bright areas I have changed Windows 10 to have Dark Mode implemented. But when using 3DS Max, it doesn't apply for some reason. I wanted to change this, but I could not find any way to do it. Google did not understand my problem, so I come to the 3DS Max Forum where I possibly could get some help. Thank you so much!

It might be controlled by Windows color schemes.

There is a thread on the Autocad forums on this subject- link below. It involves a registry edit.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/visual-lisp-autolisp-and-general/changing-the-background-of-the-selec...

It says:

Enter REGEDIT at your Start Run.
Navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors.
Double click Inactive Title.
Change the RGB setting to your liking. I prefer 38 91 143.

I couldn't achieve with a quick look though. May be it requires a Log off or restart or enabling the registry modifcation of colors from somewhere else.

It does indeed work but requires restart, I can confirm.:) I have a gray window background now.

Hello Byteman,

Thank you for the reply and description in how to change this.

I was not able to get the change that you describe, while following the guide from the start.

There must be something I do wrong. I did change the settings, and I restarted my PC first one time to check. I then restarted a second time, because I saw no changes in my 3DS Max.

Is is possible to share a screenshot of how it looks for you now?

Inactive Title should be inactive title. I really don't understand but this is what I changed from 255,255,255 to 128,128,128 and its result.

I have changed Window option.

It seems to require just a Sign Out. Not restart. All white windows are grey. Notepad and even Google Chrome background.
