Create preview animation dialogue CRASHES max

I made the mistake today of choosing a Blackmagic Design codec when creating a preview animation and now max crashes every time I try to launch the 'Make Preview Animation' dialogue. The dialogue opens and then max crashes with a CER, every time. I've tried to find a 3dsmax.ini setting that would allow me to pick a different default codec, but I can't find that anywhere. Is there another place I can 'reset' the options for this dialogue?

With some more looking I found a preview.cfg file that I renamed to preview.cfg.old and now it seems good.

If you fill out that crash error and submit it then autodesk will give you a ref number with letter if you post that here then an autodesk employee can look it up and give you an answer,
