From artistic point of view, I like 3DS-Max. So I have created a very simple test shape with 3DS-MAX and asked several industrial companies both in the USA and in China, whether they would be able to make a molding from this shape (for reasons of plastic injection production).
To my surprise, they all denied compatibility due to their CNC system, even after I converted my shape into regular formats like obj, sat, dwg, dxf etc.
Can anyone explain why industry has such a problem with shapes created with 3DS Max drawing?
In which way is the target file so different compared when created with other systems like e.g Catia or Solid Works?
