Colouring people from populate

Hi guys,

I'm working on a project which it's need to render:

1) a photo-realistic image with many people (I plan to use populate tool)

2) a image from the same point of view of (1) where each person is colored with a distinctive colors.

I need to create several more than 1000 images. Could you give me an advise about how to do (2) easily?

Thank you in advance!!!

you could select the populate people, go into object properties, change the object id to 1 (or what ever), set up a object id render element. save the render and the render element, overlay the element in photoshop to use as a selection set, using a wand with contiguos turned off, select the color in the object id render element image, make new layer, start coloring people the colors you want them to be. it will be a little time consuming but it is a start.

or you could re material each person in max but that would take way too long.

In max 2015 you can edit the skin color, age, and other features of populate.

Thank you guys. I guess that I got your ideas. I plan to discuss these with my supervisor.

On the other hand, I didn't mention that I was looking for an automatic (software script) because: 1) I didn't want to bias your ideas, and 2) I don't know if it's possible.

Yesterday, I found that 3D-max could export scenes in OBJ + MTL:

Do you think that it is possible to colouring faces OR changes the textures of the people from these files?

After that, I plan to import my new OBJ on 3D-max and rendering the scene again.

I would appreciate if you could give me a dumps up/down.

If you find innapropiate ask another question on the thread, I can start a new thread.

Thank you again and in advance for your time communicating your ideas.

Hi guys,

I follow the suggestion of Richard and I'm able to coloring each person with MAXScripts. This is the main commands that I'm using:

$Male003.material = StandardMaterial()

$Male003.material.diffuseColor = color 255 0 0

Replace: i) "Male003" by the person that you want to change; and ii) the last three number by the RGB color that you desired and it's done.

P.D. Forget the stuff about the OBJ/MTL. If you're on 3D-max, squeeze all its tools!!!
