Hello folks,
I have lots of 3D DWG (mostly vehicles using 3Dsolids and 3Dfaces).
They looks good in ACAD because layers and objects have the desired colors.
Now I want to export those DWG to FBX (or 3DS, or any other format that can be consume by infraworks to create a 3D object in the style library).
Issue... as the DWG has no textures (only colors), FBX has no textures either and does not carry the objects 's color... so all exported objects are one color only (white)...
Any ideas how to export to FBX with material derived from object's color automatically (using Acad, Max, or any other software ?) would be great !

Hi,
This will work inside 3DSMax to derive a material from the object wirecolour:

The reason why no material is coming out with the FBX is because essentially there is no material attached, just an object colour to be displayed.
I'm unsure about the Infraworks step you mention, as I do not use Infraworks.
If you want to display object colour over material colour inside 3DSMax you can also change this mode here:
