Chromium Host Executable is eating my CPU alive

What is this and why is it eating 40% of my CPU? Chromium Host Executable is basically molesting my CPU, making Max run like crap, and it is acting like some sort of malware and wont even let me force stop it. It is running even when I don't open anything Autodesk. The only way to totally stop it is to constantly go into task manager and end anything and everything having to do with Autodesk.

How to I permanently remove this, I don't know what it is doing, but it isn't helping me that's for sure.

I had same issue. Since I don't use the desktop app, and don't want it running, I removed it from the start up group (msconfig/startup) then went into services, stopped it and set it to "Manual" - that's the only way to shut it down on a Windows box. When I see an update is available, usually here or some other forum/blog, I get it from my AD account. CPU usage is now where it should be.

All good solutions (updates are preferred to blocking/locking), but despite the frustration please exercise some restraint when dealing with the unknown.  These executables are used for a number of supporting systems, and randomly stopping them can have nasty side-effects.

Yeah, I thought about doing this but wasn't sure what exactly the app did, like if it would hinder Max or other programs. This works though. Regardless it is unnecessary and needs to be fixed. I cant imagine what it is possibly doing, it is like an entire video game is running in the background.
