Cannot use some Scripts in 3ds Max 2025

Hi

Im testing 3ds max 2025, mostly everything works ok but I have 2 scripts that I cannot make them work;

1 is Megascans Script

2 is a Script from Changsoo Eun that recognize the bitmap from render engine used when dragged into SME

 

They work ok in 3ds Max 2024, does this new version change something?

Yes, it appears that Max 2025 is a big change to the SDK of the program. Scripts that are pure Maxcript tend to work for years without issue. But if they are built with code that needs to be updated with each new release, then they often break and until the developer fixes them, likely won't work. 

My guage as to how much the SDK of Max changed for a new version is how long it takes developers like 3DConnexion to get the new drivers out for the Space Pilot. Last year when Max 2024 came out, the driver was available something like two days later. Max 2024 and Max 2023 must have been nearly identical under the hood. But Max 2025 appears to be a new compile and very different. It's been nearly a month and still no drivers from 3DConnexion. 

 

So, I think you'll have to wait till the developers of your misbehaving scripts get them pacthed our updated. I'd write them directly and ask. Sometimes an onslaught of questions can nudge them to hurry up.

Get in touch with Changsoo and ask if he can update it. For Megascans, you will have to wait until they update the script. What are the errors you get? Sometimes all you need is to change a line of code.

I have already notify him, but he calims that the script works like spected, I tought that maibe I needed to reinstall for something missing, but I tried again with a clean pc and it doesnt work.

Then I saw the video on how to make work MegaScans script in Max 24/25, I followed the code that has some different caharacters, and didnt work, but it did in Max 24. I talked to the guy and he said that he hasnt tested on Max 25 so what im thinking its that ChangSoo hasnt either.

 

I was specting that someone else could test them and reproduce the error or if it works I could double check wheres the error, I guess I have to wait.

Yeah, the script doesnt recognize 3ds max 25 with the new osl uberbitmap2b (I think this is it, the script mention that OSL that was added in max 24.1), another reason could be  that Autodesk modified this osl with a different name or something like that, at least with this I can double check that its not me

 

Have you tried to drag and drop textures from Arnold/Vray/Corona/fstorm?

Sorry for the delay. I am checking with Changsoo to see what is the issue. Could it be that in his case he already has that OSL, so the file isn't missing and works fine?

Thanks, I already check the new code and it wasnt the OSL, for what i could see, it was only a ( ) in the correct place, update 3d max ver and that was it, its working like a charm!!!
Thanks again for get it in touch with him, I couldnt get him to check this, he claimed that everything was working as espected

Hehe.. obviously I was checking with 1.2. I'm not sure why 1.1 was uploaded.
Also, this is why dev need a details whats not working.

The screen shot makes me check the version.

Hi Guys, i have the same issue with 3DS MAx 2025. I can't install the Megascans Quixel for them.

If anybody have any solution would be great.

Hi, theres a solution, someone has answer me back with a modifed API and its working

I can confirm that this does work now and does not throw an error. I spent about an hour researching and manually installing the 'Quixel.ms' script and kept getting " 'QThread' is not defined" error. Max now launches and like the post says, there is no menu yet. I haven't tried an import but at least I don't get errors on launch of Max. 

 

Edit: Export works fine, it goes straignt into Slate as expected and look fine.

Thank for reply.

 

Sorry, export still doesn't work after replacing the MS_API.

Before replacing M API i had no error, but now i got this two errors.

First Error " could not export the assets. Please check the log details.

Second Error " coul not dend data over port13292 

 

And yeas, Quixel MS does also not work
