Can't see materials in Viewport V-ray max 2017

I cannot get Materials to load in my viewport in max 2017 even after checking show shaded material in viewport. the shaded matterials with maps will NOT check on no matter what i try using Latest V-ray a Quadro M4000 it is totally screwing with my workflow! I can model and texture without seeing the maps on my models but it just makes my life harder having to render to see textures. Any ideas anyone? They work in max 2015 but I cannot use my 4k monitor in max 2015 as the scaling issues.

hard to guess, is the material already applied to the object. or is there any modifier presently applied on the object that might need adjustment. if you can share the file here, it would be better for physical checking.

On the material tab, do you have "Material Color" selected under the shaded area of the Display Color rollout?
