Broken Gizmo Autoswitching to "Use Selection Center" mode while Adjusting Pivot

I'm attempting to move the pivot point on my objects but whenever I go to move the pivot Max keeps resetting me from "Use Pivot Point Center" mode to "Use Selection Center" mode.  Which means if I want to move the pivot I have to grab the Move gizmo from the center and then move the pivot from that offset position.  So the pivot gizmo moves and not the move gizmo.  I attached an image so you can see the separation. 

The same thing also happens with rotate and scale.

I looked at my coworkers Max and it appears that this mode switching happens normally but it is supposed to automatically switch to "Use Pivot Point Center" mode and is instead switching to "Use Selection Center" instead.  Seems like some wires crossed somewhere.

I cannot find anyone else having these issues, but I can't be the only one.

I'm using the latest Max 2018.  Windows 10 64-bit.

I seem to have happened onto a solution today.

There was an AMD Crimson update today. I tried installing it but there was an error that said there was a driver issue. So I used the AMD cleaner utility (http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx) to remove all AMD stuff and then did a clean reinstall of Crimson and the graphics driver. And when I started up Max again the pivot problem was gone.

It also seemed to have reset all my preferences when I did that reinstall

I dunno why that fixed it but it did.

So if anyone has this issue it's possible a GPU driver reinstall will clear it up.  If that doesn't work try a clean wipe of all your driver software for your GPU and reinstall.

I had the same issue. Adjust pivot worked correctly in 2017, but not in 2018 (auto-switched to "use selection center" instead of "use pivot point").

Updating my graphics card driver fixed the problem (Quadro K600).
