Arnold- texturesys

Hi,

When I try to render a scene in 3ds Max with the Arnold render engine, the following message appears:

[MAXtoA]: Bitmap Map #271 has empty filename, connected to Leather - Tan
[MAXtoA]: Bitmap Map #279 has empty filename, connected to Shade - Beige, texture
[Arnold]: [texturesys] /Map__271_image: Invalid image file "": ImageInput::create() called with no filename

The render preview stops after a few seconds.

I've read about this issue in the autodesk troubleshooting, and I updated the latest version of arnold, and replaced the missing bitmaps.

I want to mention that I tried linking the scene as a fbx file and as a revit file, and had the same problem with both of them.

I would be more than happy if anyone would be able  to solve my problem.

Thank you.

Hi Dina,

Thanks for your question!

If you've re-loaded the missing bitmaps used for all materials on the objects in your scene, and have checked the "Use Legacy 3ds Max Maps" option in the Rendering > Render Setup > Arnold > Systems tab, then there's a possibility that you have unused materials loaded in your Material Editor that are still missing some bitmaps.

Can you try resetting your Material Editor materials to clear out any unused materials in your scene, then re-saving the scene (under a new filename) and re-loading it to see if this error recurs? (You might also try double-checking your bitmap paths in case some bitmaps simply can't be found/loaded in these materials.)

Please let us know, and we hope to hear from you soon!

Take care,

Thanks Jon.Bell!
Now it works for me!

I reset my Material Editor materials, and re-saved the scene,
I also changed quite a few bitmap paths that were missing.
And then it worked.

I'm trying to practice 3ds max,
so I used a revit autodesk sample file with simple autodesk materials,
then linked it in to 3ds max and converted the scene in order for it to
match arnold,
making sure to convert materials into physical materials,
and used the RELINK BITMAP plugin that redirects 3ds max to find my fbm
folder.

So I do not understand why was I still missing bitmaps?
And why do I have to redirect each material one by one?
What am I doing wrong?

I would be grateful for more advice.
