Animate selection vertex-by-vertex

Hello everyone.

I have a spline that represents certain text:Безымянный.png

I want to make the effect of drawing of this text.

How do i want to realize that? I need an approach to select vertex-by-vertex by its number. For example in first frame i select all vertex and then i'll decrease counter of selected vertext. Eventually i'll apply DeleteSpline modifier.

My isssue is how can i animate selection vertex-by-vertext? Ideally, i'd like to have a slider with percent 0 through 100 (0 - zero vertex selected, 100 - all vertex selected). I tried to apply Vol. Select but i can't apply it properly, just then i want to attach the pen to last vertext in order to make drawing effect.

Thank. Sorry for my English.

There are probably many ways to animate the writing action.  Here's an approach I have used.

Loft a shape (I used a small rectangle) along the spline and then keyframe the scale of the shape along the path. The image below shows the scale profile at frame 12.  The loft is scaled 100% for about the first 20% of its length and 0% for the rest of its length.

This image shows the result by frame 58 where about 75% of the length of the spline has been scale to 100%. I gave the transition from 100% scale to 0% a small value but this could be zero  for an abrupt change from full scale to 0.

There is a nice 4-part tutorial on the 3dsmax learning channel. Perhaps that can give you some ideas how to approach this:

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

Did any of these helpful posts by @leeminardi, @Anonymous, or @Anonymous help you resolve this issue?  (Too bad there is no link to this MCG Vusta.)

These are all good methods for this problem, I just wanted to be sure that you're all set now.   Is there anything I can answer for you?

Best Regards,
