AdSSO and Identity Manager processes duplicating

I've started running into an occasional issue where 3ds Max will slow to a crawl. Opening the task manager I see 100's of duplicate AdSSO, Identity Manager, and other miscellaneous Autodesk processes. They continue to multiply until CPU is bouncing off 100% and memory fills up. Closing Max or killing the Max processes doesn't make the others close. Only way to make them close is full reboot.

I've noticed it seems to happen more when either Deadline or VRaySpawner is running as a service, but I don't know if that's really the case or just confirmation bias. Have definitely had both of those running at all times for many years on many versions (currently running Max 2024)

Has anybody else seen this behavior?

It sounds like you're experiencing a process duplication issue with 3ds Max. This could be related to how the software interacts with Deadline or VRaySpawner. Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Update Software: Ensure 3ds Max, Deadline, and VRaySpawner are all updated to the latest versions.

  2. Check for Conflicts: Look for any known issues or conflicts between these services and 3ds Max.

  3. Reinstall: Consider reinstalling 3ds Max and related services to resolve any corrupted files.

  4. Monitor Services: Use Task Manager to monitor and identify if specific actions or tasks trigger the issue.

If the problem persists, reaching out to Autodesk support with detailed logs might be necessary.
