Adding to a pre-existing Uv layout

Hi everyone. I'm new to the Uv mapping process. I've created udems ready to be shipped to substance. However I want to add more elements to my pre-existing Uv-ed model. Is there a way I can do this without having to Uv my entire scene all over again? The answer to this question will prove very valuable to me for future reference. Many Thanks to anyone in advance who can steer me in the right direction.

I don't see any reason why you would have to re-uv your entire scene? Why don't you just add your new elements to a UV tile (UDIM) that isn't in already in use? For examply you could unwrap  your new elements as a separate object, and move it to a tile that isn't used by your existing model. If necessary you can attach the object to your existing model, and send to substance. If you mean substance painter, then substance painter should also be able to update a model with exising paint.

You can also isolate faces in the uv unwrap mod based on material ID's which can be useful.

Hi Markus,

Many thanks for your reply, I nearly forgot I made this forum entry lol. I think I need to do more research on material ID's. The whole Uv unwrapping thing is a new area for me. I'm looking to export from 3ds max & into substance painter. To my knowledge Sub Painter wants all of your objects to be attached, making it one object. So when I tried adding/attaching new segments to my one object, the Uv's would mess up dramatically on my udims. I didn't know if there was a way of adding additional objects to an already existing uv'ed model of mine. I think I explained that correctly. Anyway much gratitude to you Markus, & thank you for your time.
