3ds Max UI always changing - need help

Hey Autodesk Community,

first off i want to tell that i searched for that problem already, but since i dont know how to really call it i wasnt able to find anything about this.

So my problem is (in 3dsMax 2017), that almost every time when I want to edit an object (vertices, faces, edges.. ) The UI windows for the edit mode change in its order which is extremely annoying.

So for example normally in EdgeMode it would be like:

1.PNG

So this is the normal UI i guess.. but sometimes it just switches to sth like this:

2.PNG

So for example Paint Deformation goes up and Edit Edges and Edit Geometry change places. Which is extremely annoying since i always have to search where the Extrude Option or anything else is which takes some seconds.

Someone knows the bug and maybe has a solution?
I also tried to delete the ENU file but it didnt help. After some time this problem reappeared.

Thanks in advance.

Hello @Anonymous,

This issue is listed as fixed in the tracker... but there is a link here that can show you a workaround.  Can you please make sure you are using the latest update?   You can find it on Manage.Autodesk.com.  Thanks!

The rollouts in 2017 are a bit confusing at first because the functionality is upgraded.  Moving a rollout to a new location in one subobject mode can affect all the other subobject modes which was a bit confusing for some users.  This was improved in 2018 so that each subobject is saved separately, but if you move the rollouts when not in a subobject mode then it rearranges for all subobject modes.  (Best of both worlds.)

Hey, thanks for the reply. I will check it out and see if this fixes the problem for me.

The thing is that i didnt even ever changed anything of those rollouts of any subobject modes. It jsut changed by itself.

Thank you for the update/confirmation @Anonymous.  If they changed on their own you may not have the current update installed, maybe just double check.  Either way, that link should work and thanks again!
