3DS Max Skin Modifier Bone Selecting

This isn't a life breaking thing, but extremely annoying and I can't figure out what I did this time.

When I go to add bones using the Skin Modifier, it will automatically select every bone that's a child to the bone I click on. I cannot select just one. The only way I can select one Bone is to isolate that one bone and the object I want it skinned to, then add it like that.

Is there some setting I messed with by accident? I can't figure this out...

Thanks!

Hi @Couch_Potatoh, I'd like to help with this issue. 😃

Could you perhaps share the file you're working with so I might have a look? Or include a Screencast video of the issue?

I have tried adding bones to a new Skin Modifier and cannot seem to reproduce the issue on my end. I'd be happy to see what might be happening in the file for you though.

If the scene is proprietary, you can upload it to a private Box folder here.

Thanks so much!

Dominique

Hello @Couch_Potatoh,

I just wanted to follow up here, any progress on this issue?  Are you using the scene explorer or the old list view for selections?

If scene explorer, make sure you don't have 'select children' checked on the Select menu in the upper left, that might do what you are seeing here.  In the old list view, that is called "Select Subtree".  Could that be what is causing this?  Thanks for the information!

Best Regards,

Yep, that was it. Select Children was in use. I assume I hit ctrl+c since it's the hotkey. I just couldn't figure it out at all.. Thank you!
