Just a guess:

In preferences > files, try turning off "autosave"

Hello @Anonymous,

it looks like you are visiting as a new member to the 3DS Max forum. I want to extend a warm welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Have you checked your save settings to see if you have autosave turned on? That can be found under

Customize > Preferences > Files tab. Under Auto Backup, check or uncheck the Enable check box.

If that doesn't do the trick, it may be helpful to reset 3DS Max to its default settings, step by step instructions to do so can be found here.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Hey Hagen

To change the Autosave-Settings was not a solution. But to reset Max and delete the ENU-files was the trick. Now it works again. Thanks for your help.

But i still can not explain me why it happened from one day to a other on all of our workstations in our office without making a update of Max. The only thing we changed was a windows update in the last Week.

kind regards

I'm super happy that it worked, yaaaaay! 😄 Thanks for accepting the response to your post as a solution so that others can benefit from the information.

It may be worth looking into why the windows update changed your save settings, I found a similar thread from a few months ago that could offer some insight. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

I had the same problem and found it to be a corrupt ALC script that automatically launches on startup in each file  and infects the scene in strange ways. I resolved it by adding 'ALC fixup' and 'CRP fixup' scripts in the 3ds max startup folder to remove the corrupted scripts when 3ds max is launched.
