3ds max render help for beginner: vray not rendering properly

Hello,

I am a beginner in 3ds max. I am using the 2016 version.

I have created an interior scene which i modeled in Sketchup and imported to max. I have watched many tutorials for vray and camera settings and seemed to have done everything right. Here's the thing; I get a black screen in the render preview. I am using a vray sun and lights. adptive image sampler, and irradiance map as the primary engine. I dont know how to fix this.

Also, for checking, i opened a new file tried a basic teapot, plane, vray light and physical camera. But the result is also an almost black screen with a hint of the color of the teapot.

Please help and advice!!

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

I'd like to help with this issue regarding black renders.  Your scene does render right off the bat when I test it.  I wonder if you are not getting a license for Vray, which is causing it to render black.  If you press F10, go to the Vray tab and open Authorization... what does it say there?
