3DS Max naming rendered files _alt_

Hi everyone,

I need help understanding why 3ds Max renders some files with _alt_0 or _alt_4 appended to the filename. How does this happen, and what can be done to prevent it?

I don't work with 3ds Max myself. I'm an IT support for our sister company who uses it. They say this started happening after updating recently to another version. They work in 3ds max 2024.

Some additional context:
- The output folder is empty before rendering starts, so it's not a file conflict with existing files.
- It happens seemingly at random. Not on every frame.

- They use Corana 13 as renderer.

Thanks in advance from a confused IT supporter!

Sounds like a Corona issue to me. At least I have not seen this happening with the built-in renderers of 3ds Max.

You could try asking at their forum? https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php

It is likely that the team is batch rendering variations from state sets using the same camera.

And if they are using the Deadline manager, there is some info regarding "_alt" being appended, but it's way down the page, so do a 'find' (Ctrl + F)
