3ds Max forces Dropbox to download scene assets: how to disable?

Starting with 3ds Max 2023 (everything was fine in 2022), when opening a scene, Dropbox begins downloading (setting to offline mode) all textures, proxies, and other assets that are referenced in the Asset Tracker.
On one hand, this is useful if you need to work extensively with the scene, but on the other hand, if you only need to make minor edits, now this can take an eternity .
Additionally, once the scene is open, it is impossible to revert assets to online mode; 3ds Max forces Dropbox to immediately download them again.
Disabling synchronization while opening the scene is not a viable option.
Is there a way to prevent these forced downloads from happening?
