3ds max does not load custom scripts!!!

Hey

even after saving hotkeys in hotkey editor 3ds max is ignoring all my custom scripts on startup located here:

never had anything like that before, obviously something is broken, 3ds max 2024.1

Just a thought but do the scripts load when the Safe Scene Script Exection feature is turned off?

Have you verify your Menu Customize > Configure User and System Paths... > Additional Macros path to make sure it point to the folder?

Few more ideas:

Check the Preferences Maxscript page and check if the Load Startup Maxscripts checkbox is ticked on, should be, but might have gotten switched off by mistake.

Or create a new Scripts folder in your My Documents / 3dsmax folder. Then add that new folder as a 3rd party plug-in location to look for via User and System Paths. 

I've all my startup scripts in a 3rd party plug-ins location in My Documents / 3dsmax / MyScripts folder. 

Users can nearly be certain that files in that location are not affected by whatever Group Policy permissions have been set by Windows or the System Administrator, if there is one.

Placing macroscripts in a new folder creates too many errors. 

Weird thing is that half of the scripts are loaded just fine...I dont get it.

this and several other scripts are not loaded and are not showing up in the hotkey editor.

steps to reproduce on 3ds max 2024.1:

1. copy the contents of the file and compile the script

2. confirm its in the hotkey editor. its called "smooth30retriangulate" in "!Scripts" category

3. click "done" and restart Max

4. Start Max and check if the script is still in hotkey editor

Hi, I'd install a random persons script if I had a sandboxed Workstation, with the network cable plugged out. But no. 

Have you tried bringing this up with official Autodesk support? We're all just mainly users like yourself here.

Hi, I may have freaked out. But, it's with due cause. Everyone throws
around free DIY code, myself included.

3DSMax security features should catch rogue code. Since 2021. So there's
nothing to worry about. Really.

I made a mistake saying that you should try to load your Macroscripts as a
pre load routine from my documents / 3dsmax , that was a mistake. Of course
it will throw up errors. It is executing all scripts at the start, not
loading them into memory, executing them at runtime. Doh.

If your hot key bound macros aren't being found, through the usual route,
for some unknown reason there is zero reason to move them. Something is
definitely up. Be it Windows, IT dept or Autodesk. It's certainly not "User
Error". Therefore:

If I was a license holder and this happened to me, where it used to work
before flawlessly, I'd be onto proper support channels. It comes as part of
the product cost.

Don't hang up the call until it's sorted.
