3DS Max 2020 Will Not Load Past Splash Screen

Hi Everyone,

After a fresh install of Windows 10, I re-installed 3DS Max 2020. However, both before and after completing the latest update, Max will not load past the splash screen. I've tried all the remedies I could find on this forum, and online, nothing has worked. I've also uninstalled and deleted every single Autodesk related program, file, and folder before trying another re-install and that didn't work either. At this point, I've hit a wall and have no clue how to get 3dsMax 2020 up and running. I would appreciate any ideas that might help.

@Libei.Wang,

You were really helpful with the pickle I was in before, 3DS Max 2019.3 wasn't able to "send to" Maya so you suggested I use 2020 instead. That solved the issue but now, unfortunately, 2020 won't load past the splash screen. If this forum post ends up on your radar, the various interventions I've tried so far are below.

- In services.msc, I changed the startup type in Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service to - Automatic (Delayed Start).

- Updated Autodesk Licensing Service to  11.0.0.4854

- Uninstalled all Autodesk products (including Maya) using Revo uninstaller, then I went through and delete any leftover Autodesk folders and files before re-installing everying.

- Installed 3DS Max 2019 so I could open up files and export them as .fbx as a stop-gap measure.

Hopefully, you have some fresh insight into what may be causing the issue.

Thanks,

JRT

Hello @Jrtrudeau ,

Sorry I missed your mention.

I tried changing Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service to - Automatic (Delayed Start) on my system.  Max 2020 started without a problem.

Usually, if Max doesn't pass the splash screen on start, it's a license issue.  I see you have the latest Autodesk license installed already.  Have you tried to install Max 2020 again?  If this doesn't help, I will forward your question to our Install and Licensing support team.

Hi @Libei.Wang , no problem at all, thanks for getting back to me. I uninstalled and re-installed 3DS Max 2020 a couple of times already. In the last round, I actually uninstalled all Autodesk software then went through and cleaned out all remaining Autodesk files and folders. If you could forward my issue to the Install and Licensing support team that would be great. In the meantime, I'll try a uninstall/re-install of 3DS Max one more time just to be sure the problem doesn't go away.

Thanks,

JRT

@Libei.Wang , I tried a couple more uninstalls/reinstalls of 3DS Max 2020 along with any leftover files, and didn't have any more luck getting it to load past the splash screen. I primarily use 3DS Max to port models over to Maya, so anyone you can send me to who can address the potential problem would be much appreciated.

Best,

Justin

Hello Justin,

Sorry for the delay.

Our Install and Licensing support suggested these 2 links:
