I am having an issue with a particular scene where I'll launch the material editor, but as soon as I try to click on a shader ball, or menu item, it hangs up (not responding...) for maybe 30 seconds before the error clears. If I try it again, same thing... I'm unable to reset the materials. I am able to do everything else except work with the materials.
I've tried re-setting max, etc, but no luck. It's only happening on that scene.
go into your event viewer and double click on windows logs and double click on applications look for any 3ds max warning or errors look at the date and time stamp, open it up and windows will give you a short description of what is causing the error run that through google and it will likely give you an answer,
also update 3ds max to the lastest service and hotfix if not already done so.
