3ds max 2018 student version problems *urgent*

Hello!

I had 3Ds Max 2018 installed for school work. I've used it for around 2 weeks and during that time I couldn't get the materials to work. I knew we have the 2017 versions on our schools' computers, so I uninstalled the 2018 version and tried to install the 2017 version... Well, it didn't work and I cannot install the 2018 version either anymore. I just get failed to install message soon after they start installing.

I have an urgent deadline for my 3ds max assignments in 10 days and I don't know what to do! I've contacted Autodesk support too, but I'm afraid They won't answer in time. 

Please help!

we cannot really help unless you tell us what the error message says! or put a print screen image of that error

so you completely remove 3ds max from the add/remove programs, and that did not work?

have you updated windows recently? have you tried Microsoft FixIt this will remove all the installation data from the registry. and you can try and reinstall max link to MS fixit https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed...

I used cclean and the basic control panel uninstall to uninstall and delete files of all Autodesk programs. And I get those same messages over and over. But I'll try this too. But then again this might be because of my student licence.

Ccleaner only cleans your internet file that has nothing to with 3ds max or windows really.

If that doesn't help the only thing i can tell you is to delete your login but this is a last resort because you will lose everything it's like formating your hard drive. i would not recommed this, because you will need to backup all your files. and reinstall everything apart from windows.

maybe someone else has some ideas of why it won't install

So AIDA doesn't work i just get this. How is my pc like this? All i did was uninstall.

half the tech support people from autodesk doesn't help really now. you hardly see them in here! @Diffus3d can you help out with this. but i don't think AJ is around because of family issues or even @jeffrey.sin these are the main tech support people!

Well I appreciate that you're trying to help out. I tried installing 3ds max to my laptop too and it didn't work out there either so i really don't know what to do. And i've never even had that program on my laptop so I don't get it.

you did a window rollback have you updated Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 that is the only thing i can tell you! i am out of ideas now.

you are getting a lot of problems which as i am not behind your computer i cannot really help you have to wait until someone from autodesk tech support answers! that is i wrote the @sign to see if they answer.

I seem to recall having to keep the download website open while it is installing with a student version, that might help you out, looks like you're getting a similar error.

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

I strongly suggest posting this question to the Installation and Licensing forum, they can sort you out very quickly.  (Thanks for the @ mention  @irishman_team_kilber!)   It may be that your registry is somehow damaged, try creating a new user in Windows and install again.  If that fails you may be having a firewall issue and is blocking the download.  In that case you can try to pre-download the installers from the Virtual Agent.  

CCleaner is great much of the time, but it can corrupt registries.  (I know this from experience.)  This is why I suggest making a new user in Windows, that would generate a new clean registry.  Your ability to install is not affected by your student license because it doesn't see the license until it is installed.
