Hello,

When I lunch 3ds max 2018 all the viewports are blank even the white menu on the top of the viewport.

I've updated my graphic card to the latest version,

The display driver in viewports settings is Nitrous Direct3D 11 (the recommended one)

My gpu is nvidia gtx 1050

OS windows 10

Help me please!

Hello @darkprince996

Thanks for posting your question on the forums! I hope I can help you with your Viewport issues.

Is this a fresh installation of the software, or have you recently installed any 3rd party plugins? I would suggest resetting your user preferences back to default, here is a link with instructions on how to do so!  Also keep in mind this will reset your plugins too, so make sure to link them all back up!

Let me know if this information helps, if not, we can continue troubleshooting the issue 😄

Thanks for your attention...
Actually this problem occurred suddenly , then I tried to solve it by several ways like:

- resetting my user preferences back to default

- updating graphic card

- uninstall then install it again

- recover my windows

all that ended up with no avail.

I really don't know how to get the program back>>
just to know when I change the scale from display settings

the program works again but when I minimize the viewports to four or some it crushes again
looking for help 😞

Hello @darkprince996

That sounds super frustrating! Are you running the program on multiple monitors? If so, I would suggest disabling one of them and seeing what happens.

Another thing we can test is starting 3DS Max in a different graphics mode, here are the steps to do so.

When you minimize your display, and 3DS Max crashes, does it by chance give you the option to submit a report? If so, it would be awesome if you could submit the report, then send me an private message with the crash report CER number. I can look it up in our internal search tools to see if this behavior is already documented.

Thanks for being so patient! Talk to you soon 😄

Thank you so much for replying me 🙂

First of all what I mean by "but when I minimize the viewports to four or some it crushes again"

is the (viewports crush) not the software.

- I work with only single monitor.

about the latest update with this problem...

Solution 1

- Disable my rendering Display adapter which is GTX 1050

the software works correctly with no problems with the other display adapter.

Solution 2

- Download DirectX 9 and physx then change the graphic of the viewports from DirectX 11 to DirectX 9

It works correctly with no problems on Render card GTX 1050.

Actually I'm trying to solve the problem so I can work with the software in directX 11 and GTX 1050

I think the problem with DirectX 11 driver, Unfortunately I couldn't solve the problem yet>>

(To know that I have the latest update for my graphic card)

Waiting for answer to help me 🙂

I would like to confirm that you have tried deleting the ENU folder, and that it didn't fix the issue.

\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2019 - 64bit\ENU ( make sure to unhide hidden folders if you aren't finding it.)

Renaming the folder to ENU_old will have the same effect.

I have a few more ideas but want to be thorough

Alright, next I would suggest making sure to uninstall the previous Nvidia drivers, restart your system, and then install the drivers for your new hardware, that way it avoids conflicting with the old Nvidia drivers.

If you have already done these things, in this order, and it still hasn't fixed the issue, I will log it into our systems so development can take a look into the issue.

Thanks for being so patient and easy to work with 😄

A few more questions so I can pass along the most thorough documentation of the issue.

  • Are you working on a desktop or laptop?
  • Do you have multiple video cards in your machine?
  • Are you switching your PC back and forth between a low-power onboard Intel GPU vs. an Nvidia GPU?

Thanks!

I may have already asked you, but you are on the most recent 3DS Max update 2018.4 correct?

In reply to your question, here is the information you requested of me:

- Working on laptop.

-Gtx 1050 as rendering video card and intel HD graphic 630 as display adapter.

- No, I did it once to check if 3ds max works with intel display adapter or not (talked about that in advanced before).

- I have the latest update for my 3ds max.

Sorry for the delayed response due to some issues with my internet connection...

Thanks for the additional details! If there is any way to roll back your display drivers, that may help, though it looks like the Gtx 1050 is not on the recommended hardware list for 3DS Max 2018, and is used for gaming mostly. I don't know if rolling back the driver will help with the issue, but it could!

I don't believe development can afford to test all the different graphics cards to make sure they are compatible with 3DS Max. That's why there is the list of recommended hardware for each version of the software.

I'm sorry there isn't much else I can suggest,.I will ask a colleague about this issue, but I have a feeling they will say the same thing. I'm glad the issue only persists in Direct3D 11, it sounds like you can still utilize the program in Direct3D 9!

I have tried to download the version of nividia 1050 mentioned above but it did not solve my problem also 😞

I`d really want you to study or develop a solution for this issue of graphic card nividia 1050 and 3ds max 2018
