3DS Max 2016: Objects invisible in the viewport

Hi there,  I am trying to model a building in 3DS Max, but for some reason the geometry of the building itself remains invisible when in the realistic and shaded viewports, but the geometry renders perfectly fine.  I have looked around and read that this could be due to the fact that I am running 3DS Max with Intel integrated graphics, but I have run 3DS Max 2013 on the same computer with no issues at all.  Could there be any other causes for this issue?  Thanks.

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

I think you are correct that this issue stems from the integrated graphics card, but there may be a workaround.  In older versions of Max the amount of stress on the GPU was less because graphics card processing was less advanced, but as time moves forward it does look like developers in many areas are putting more and more on the graphics card due to all the processing potential there.

In your case, you might try to change your graphics display driver in 3ds Max.  I would suggest Legacy D3D or OpenGL and see if that solves your issue.  You'll miss out on some viewport features but hopefully you can see the geo you are working on.  Please let me know if it works or not.

Your suggestion fixed the issue perfectly! I was able to drop down to Nitrous D9 and the system performed flawlessly. Thanks!
