3DS Max 2016 Keeps Crashing

Hey guys, I was recently working with exporting models to use in Unreal and both programs stopped responding so I shut both processes down using the task manager.

Now when starting 3DS Max, at the moment when I get asked to start with a template or open a file, it tries to load it but then crashes with the "application needs to close" dialog.

Help please! :C

Try Resetting your User Settings.

Max 2016 (SP1/EXT1)
Win7Pro x64 (SP1). i5-3570K @ 4.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX11.
nVidia GTX760 (2GB) (Driver 430.86).

This is a solution for many, many bugs/crashes... But why?

It seems that max is less robust since some releases, isn't it?

It has been a go-to solution for many issues for many years/versions. As with most s/ware the more things are implemented the more settings there are to go wrong, and as most user-configurable settings are stored in configuration files it's understandable why it such a useful starting point for problems. If done correctly it is non-destructive (the settings can be restored) if it doesn't cure the problem.

Just a idea: Max should have a backup/restore function for the user settings!

So that's easy to reset the settings to the state of e.g.: last day, last week, last month...

Mac Pro 2013

32 Gb Ram

FirePro Graphic Card

Your resetting user settings solution did not work. Find all the data reports attached to this messages.

It's a funny thing that 3dsmax, since ever, allows you to pull some very complex tricks steady as a rock, and then you just translate an object, copy a keyframe, or rotate the viewport and boom... It blows up in your face.

That's exactly what've been gewtting here: it's just impossible to copy some keyframes around.

Any setting I should look into?
