I have tested this today and I'm not seeing this issue, can you give me some more details or do a screen cast?

Need any more details? I've seen this bug first in a students computer, then I checked in another one and found the same problem. Then I reproduced it in my laptop, where I recorded this screen cast. Hope it helps!

Oh sorry, crossed wires.

I Have just installed patch 6 on a windows 8 machine, or rather tried to. Because the installer failed because it didn't have enough privileges even though I used an admin account. The only way that I could install it was using the hidden admin account.

It started me thinking that maybe that is what had happened (to a lesser degree) when I installed 2012 patch 6 on my windows 8 machine. I will try installing from the hidden admin account and see if it fixes the cat issues. It never crossed my mind that it might be a windows 8 permissions issue. I will try it over the weekend and report back.

Sorry it took a while to get back I had a lot of rendering to do. Ok I have now tried installing pu12 for 2012 in both safe mode (you can't) and using the hidden admin account. It didn't make a difference any part including my current project containing animated cat rigs with cat animation layers wont open. So back to PU10 again which I suspect I will be stuck at for a long time as there is no visible effort to fix this by Autodesk. I know it takes time to work on fixes but an update on progress or lack of it would be nice. Oh yea Happy Christmas to all at Autodesk and Area members.

Ok so we are now two months down the line no update from Autodesk no sign of a repaired update or fix. What is the point of us posting on here if no one from Autodesk picks it? Could it be everyone has switched to the development of 2014 and poor old 2012 is now abandoned. I am giving up on this forum as it appears to be a total waste of time.

I have installed update 12, but why the Cat Motion file still open failed when it was saved as Motion Mode(the green button)?

My 3ds max is 2012 64bit, SP2, update 12; The system is win7 64bit w/ Nvidia Quadro 2000; the workstation is Dell T3500.
