2023.2 Broke my scene

Updated to .2 and now I can not load a scene.  The CPU pegs at almost 100% usage and it freezes opening it.  I can merge some objects, but not all of them.  There wasn't anything special about those objects.  Uninstalled and reinstalled max 2023.1 and everything works as expected.  Please allow for a dot release uninstaller if they're going to fail this spectacularly.

No bueno.

Hi @raiden_xavier,
Unfortunately nothing so far, that's why I tried to write something here to address that issue in max 2023 as well which has made a huge problem for our projects.

Hi @Grace.Tevlin,

Hopefully someone with more experience may chime in.

Here are some things that always help speed up troubleshooting:

  • The version + update (2023.0?  2023.2?)
  • Has resetting the ENU folder fixed it?
  • Any custom scripts or tools being used?
  • Any 3rd party plug-ins?
  • A sample scene for local testing.

Many thanks.

Regards.

Hi @raiden_xavier

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately nothing so far.

We have couple of projects that XForm is used a lot and this issue caused serious problems in our Marketing productions. We have already switched back to Max 2022.

This issue came from the first Max 2023 release. It was reported to Autodesk support without any solutions.

It has been tested on few machines and all the same.

Tested on a fresh Max 2023, also another one with VRay plugin installed.

A sample project with a video is attached.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi,

Just bumping this, to see if there has been a solution since the last post?

Thanks 🙂

Hi everybody, I am using 3ds max 2024 and experiencing this problem too. I use chamfer modifier a lot, the project is unable to finilize loading at 69%.

Haven't suffered this yet in 2024, but file loading times are still harrowingly high.
