The SceneExplorer/LayerExplorer was updated with the 2015 Version of 3dsmax.

So this feature doesn`t exist in 2014. However you can add a 'Visible' column to the Explorer.

SceneExplorer->Customize->Configure Column. Then search for the 'Visible'-property in the list and drag it into the SceneExplorer.

Hi;

 

You can add this feature to scene explorer as the previous comment says;

 

here's how to:

-Right click inside the Scene explorer interface and choose Configure Columns

-In the Configure Columns, you'll find "Hidden" option.

-Drag and drop Hidden option to the top, next to "Name" list heading.

-You now have visibility option.
