Hi everybody!

I would like to animate texture on object only with material editor. Tell me please, how can I animate building covering with material, from down to up. For example (in the photo)

Thanks!Untitled.png

It's not clear what aspect of the material you want to animate (e.g., the position of the pattern or the image itself) but here are two methods to try:

1. Specify an avi, mpg or ifl file for the bitmap.

2. Keyframe the U and/or V Offset values for the bitmapped material.

OK. At first my building will rise from down to up, with modifier "Slice", then I want to cover it with own material. I can do it with "Slice" as I made in example, but I want do this with material editor, but how? ). As I know I must do this with Cheker or Noise, but I not sure )

It is not clear to me what you are trying to do.  Can you make 3 still images that represent what the animation will look like near its start, at a point midway through the animation, and one near the end?  That would be very helpful.  Also post the bitmap of the material you plan to use if possible.

It is my example, which I did it with primitives (there 2 box), one of them building, the other is its texture (both animated with modifier Slice). But I want to do animate this with material editor, not with modifier Slice )

Create a bitmap that has its top half black and bottom half white then assign it as the Cutout (opacity) map for the material you are using.  Set the channel for the diffuse map to 1 and the cutout map to channel 2 and its correspond UVW Map modifier also to channel 2.  Keyframe the motion of the cutout map's gizmo. Start with the black portion of the cutout map covering the object. As the black portion of the map moves up the building and is replaced by white the building will be revealed.

In the attached file I have a material named Bldg Front.  It is assigned to a vertical plane. It uses a diffuse map of the facade of a building. A UVW Map is applied to the plane and channel 1 is used.  The gizmo for the diffuse map fits the plane as seen below.

A second UVW Map modifier is assigned to the plane. Channel 2 is assigned to it. Channels allow multiple UVW maps to be assigned to the same object  so that different mapping parameters can be assigned to different components of the object. I created a jpg image named Half Black that has its top half black and bottom half white.  I made the gizmo for the cutout map much larger than the plane as can be seen in the image below. This ensures that the entire plane can be covered by either the black or white portion of Half Black.

The animation starts with this gizmo's top half (black) covering the plane making it invisible.  As the animation proceeds, the gizmo is keyed to move up thus the white portion begins to cover the diffuse map making it visible.  In the attached Max file the building is totally invisible in frame 0 and totally visible in frame 40. The image below was captured at frame 35 so the building is almost totally revealed.
