Curve Editor - No curves

Hi,

I'm animating a small engine model using 3DS Max 2018 on Windows 10 Pro. I've begun by applying a rotation to the crankshaft. When I open the curve editor, there is no curve when I select the X Rotation: Bezier float in the browser. The animation is working (therefore there must be a curve) but it is just not visible. On a side note, the model was imported from Inventor - not sure if that matters.

Any help would be most welcome.

Hi!

That is the Dope Sheet, not the curve Editor 😕

Can you try, in the upper menus > Editor > Track view
?

I hope this can help!

My apologies for the late reply. The notification of a reply was sent to my "spam" folder.  😛

As for the "Editor" tab, my only two options are "Curve Editor..." and "Dope Sheet...".

Please see the attachment below...

Hi @00110100,

Indeed, you should see curves in Curve Editor, although the grid like background is Dope Sheet.

It seems your track view is in a 'broken' state 😕

I searched for any known issues about that, I could not find.

I hope this can help :

. in Track View, on the top part where the toolbars are

. right-click > Load Layout > Function Curve Layout (or Function Curve Layout Classic)

(shown in attached video)

This should 'reset' the track view.

If that does not make it work as expected, you can try this:

. Close Max

. In your appdata folder :

C:\Users\ <username> \AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2018 - 64bit\ENU\en-US\plugcfg\

. remove Trackview.ini (you can also try to remove the .layout files related to track view)

. Start Max

(Note that the folder \en-US\ is the default English US, if Max is set to another language, this path name will differ)

Max will recreate the trackview.ini on start up.

The whole folder \2018 - 64bit\  can be removed safely for Max to run, these are the "user preferences".

Removing the whole folder will remove all user settings, Max will be as when installed the first time.

The Trackview.ini has the defaults for the Trackview setup.

It may of been corrupted somehow... 😕

Let me know if that helps or not.
