CAT Rig parameters missing!

Hello

I have a rig for a character that needs to be adjusted. However, when I click on the bone I want to adjust ( In this case the upper arm to add an extra segment) The parameters don't show on the right side menu anymore. It's as if it's just a standard object.

It's just with this particular rig. If I create a new one it's fine but then I can't seem to copy the finished skinned mesh onto that new rig.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi @kfGGP47

*This post is incorrect in regards to CATrig. *

It looks like some of that information is editable via the Motions tab in the Command Panel.

  1. Select a bone within the rig
  2. Within the Command Panel, select the Motion Tab
  3. Select Parameters
  4. Within the Biped tab, select Figure Mode (should be the first option).
  5. Scaling and changing the size of the bones should now work

I hope this works, please let me know if I can help further 😄

Wow, I totally missed the mark on my last post!

Alright, CATrig, I'm on the same page! I'm curious, when did this start happening, were you able to edit this rig previously?

If at all possible, would you be able to send me the rig so I can test it?

Since you are able to edit other rigs, I wouldn't think its  UI issue...but we can see what happens if you change your Workspace up in the right corner from Default.

Ha Ha no worries.

The problem started after using a plugin ( Weight Pro) so that was definately the cause as the rig was fully editable before I added it.

Once you have finished doing the weighting in the plugin you have to press a 'Finish and clean up' button. I think it bakes the weights and maybe converts the bones to an editable mesh or something. The CAT parameters in the motion tab are still there, but those associated with individual bones are gone. The only bone that remained intact was the head bone, and that was because I didn't have it selected in Weight Pro.

I have however found a solution. In CAT's setup mode, I tried loading a previously saved preset to the rig in question, and all the parameters magically reappeared!

Thanks for your quick response

Kenny

Awesome! Thanks for posting back on the thread to update folks 😄 I'm sure this will help others down the road experiencing similar issues.

When you loaded the previously saved preset, did it overwrite the work you did using Wight Pro?

No, all the Weight Pro changes stayed intact as loading the CAT preset is only really loading a setup 'pose' for the bones - it just so happens it reinstates the bone parameters too!

I hope somebody does find this solution helpful.

Thanks.

Wowow what a solution - Add Edit Mesh modifier to get the parameters back, works like magic =). Thanks, I wouldn't have thought to do that!
