Problem with offset controller to animate multi-objects' material!!!

offset controller is quiet helpful for transforming animation of multi-objects, but when it comes to material animation, it doesn't work at all,  the material parameter of all the objects change simultaneously without any delay, i tried to adjust the parameters of the timing & offset modifier but still failed, so frustrated.

My steps:

1.Select all the objects i want to apply material animation.

2.Assign a material to all objects.

3. Use auto-key to generate material animation, like color change or self-illumination level  change.

so far it's okay, all the objects change shading effect simultaneously.

4. keep all the objects selected, menu - animation - offset controllers - add offset controllers

Hi @Anonymous ,

The animation is on the material.

If there is only 1 material, the offset is applied to 1 material.

No matter the amount of objects, all objects with the same material (1 material) will get the same animation and offset.

They all look alike.

To be able to set an animation offset, each object should have its own material with its own animation, then offset can be applied.

I hope this can help,

Regards,

Animation Offset needs multiple animations to be able to create offsets between them.
If there is only 1 material, there is only 1 animation, that is why the offset affects only 1 material.

If you do 2 materials with an animation on each, apply each material to objects, you can get an offset between the animation of the 2 materials.

As the animation belong to the material, not the object, this cannot work with a single material.
