CAT Rig breaks with animation layer

Hey every,

I am attempting to skin and rig a character I made with an altered CAT rig. The problem is when I add an animation layer to animate and check on my skinning one of the wings seems to break. I am by no means an expert here, especially when it comes to rigging and animation so any and all help is appreciated!

If I can provide any additional info to assist someone in helping me solve this, just let me know.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting in the forums 😄

I can take a look at any files you have! What version of 3ds Max are you using?

When you say "break", what do you mean? It looks like the wings pivot becomes offset maybe?

Looking forward to helping you!

Hey there, thanks for the response! The "break" occurred when I toggled
into animation mode and involved the wing to offset completely and then was
not moving or responding until I went back into set up mode. Out of
frustration, I saved, exited, and called it a day. I recently picked the
project back up and now everything is operating as it should be. I don't
know what I did to fix this. If you still want a copy of the file to look
for any insight on what I might have accidentally done to resolve this, I
can still send it to you if you'd like. Thank you for your time, I really
appreciate it.

Thanks for the prompt response!

I'm so happy it worked out! I'm not sure if I could reproduce the exact issue you encountered without a step by step walk through. I do know that the CAT rigging system can be touchy at times, so let me know if you run into any other issues! I would suggest watching tutorials on the CAT rigging system, and here is the main documentation for the Character Animation Toolkit

Here is a lil video tutorial I found as well.

I hope this helps!
