Camera animation

Hi,

my name is Alex.

Just started using 3ds Max 2016 (before i used 3ds Max 2013).

I got a problem while using camera animation.

I have an object in the center and want to animate camera with perfect circle orbit direction. That is why i created circle and linked my camera to the circle. Than i animated circle rotation and that seems that camera also got this animation as rotates with circle too (attached images img_1 and img_2).

But when i press "C" to get in camera view and start animation, view do not changes , view stays with the first frame view of the camera, but camera moves with it's path and it's visible (see img_3). Is it Bug or i should do something else ?

in previous 3ds Max version that worked well, in 2016 version that don't work.

Thank you!

Kind regards,

Alex

Try this:

Create a circle

Select the circle > Modifiy tab > Interpolation > Check Adaptive (this makes the circle smooth so there are no hiccups in the camera motion)

Create a dummy (Create tab > Helpers > Dummy)

Path Constrain the dummy to the Circle (Select the Dummy > Animation > Constraints > Path Constraints > Select the Circle)

You should see the Dummy snap to the circle.

Create a Target Camera

Select the Camera and align (Alt + A) it to the Dummy on the circle.  Make sure you are aligning the Pivots in the align menu.

Link the Camera to the Dummy

Select the Camera Target and align it to the center object.

Make adjustments to the circle radius and target location as necessary.

Now when you look in the camera viewport, you should see a perfectly smooth rotation.

Good luck.
