Bones moving around between keyframes

Much like what the title suggests, I've been working on some animation files for a game model and I've come across a very glaring issue where bones are acting wobbly or floaty as I work. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but as I was developing pose-to-pose keyframes, I noticed parts of the model like the feet were always slightly offset between the keyframes that I just worked on. It wasn't until I started a new animation file where I made sure the bones' rotations were copied one-for-one on the timeline that I noticed between both frames, they would almost curve slightly out of place before smoothing back into the correct position. I'm still fairly new to animating in Max but this particular feature is driving me crazy, especially with making sure the feet stay grounded to the floor and not floating around clipping through. I've primarily kept myself to using autokey and rotations/transforms, no IK or any other particular features. Does this issue sound familiar to anyone?
