This week's update!
Besides applying feedback on the character animation, I've also been adding "dips" into the mattress to make the project more believable as the environment is real. This was added to the shadow catchers we learned to make in VRay which only added to the overall feel and realism of the shots. I attached a couple of screenshots of the mattress dips both with and without edged faces.
The method I used was adding an Edit Poly modifier, choosing the "Animate" option at the top of the modifier's list, and moved the polygons/vertices on the frames I wanted them to move along with the character.
