2016 -> 2019 Huge performance drop with rig

Hello everyone!

I have just discovered something strange: I have used SuperRune's script (http://www.superrune.com/tools/supersimplerig.php) to create a new rig in Max 2016, no model, no skin yet. It works fine with about 60 fps. Now I opened the file in Max 2019 (also tried merging), and the performance drops to 1 fps. What changed in 2019 that makes rig performance unusable? Any ideas?

I have attached the file if someone wants to test it.

I have also tried some other rigs, e.g. horse-free-rig: 2016: 25 fps, 2019: 0.7 fps

Thanks,

Bob

Yes, rotation of torso in SuperRune_rig very slow in 2019. But I have no problem with it in 2018... so it must be 2019 bug.

Yup, this is a bug, but one that seems was already logged and a fix is on the way (I heard on the next PU or something) so fingers crossed they release it sooner rather than later 🙂 Thanks for finding it too @bobweb 🙂

Thanks RGhost77 for testing! So it is not only me...

Thanks lorddavius, that is good news, hopefully it will get fixed soon! Do you know any details about the problem? Are there certain objects, controllers etc. to avoid for now?

Thanks,

Bob

We documented this issue with ExposeTM, but it may affect other nodes. Please give 2019 Update 1 a try once it is released and let us know if it resolves your issue.

I have just installed the 2019.1-update and tested it again, the SuperRune-Rig works as fast as before now. Thanks!

@bobweb I'd even go as far as say that the SuperRune-Rig *does not* work as fast as before now. I'd say it works even faster than before. Make your tests 😉 On my side I say a speed boost of almost 2x (from 26-28 fps to almost 60 fps). I was NOT using SuperRune's but InstantRig, so your mileage might vary.
