As a programmer I get a little frustrated when users assume that a
limitation of one software provider is a limitation of the process. In the
UK we are used to separate CAD technicians and Engineers and each user
spending days working on their part of the model before needing to send it
back, so we export a file from one application and import it into another.
This way it does not matter if the 2 apps are on the same computer or not.

I think many of us are trying to export the Revit model to analysis
softwares without direct link connection. The IFC format could be an option
since it is capable of recognizing many structural elements (and boundary
conditions, loads, etc.) I am really curious about Autodesk's intention in
this subject. Will the IFC import/export option develop in the future? Is
the preferred way for connection is through the API? One major problem with
the direct link is that the analysis software and Revit Structure needs to
be on the same computer and it is often not the case.
Any ideas from anybody?
