fill pattern lineweights

I know there is no way to directly adjust the fill pattern lines but does anyone have any suggestions on how to make them show up better? we are having problems at the company i work for getting the brick, siding, shingles etc patterns to show up when we make copies of our plans. because we cannot directly adjust this the people in the field cannot read some of the plans and unless we can fix this issue twe will no longer be using revit. the only solution i have come up with is to put a masking region over the elevations with the pattern i want...  but this does not work in 3D view and it is a long process i shouldnt have to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Fill patterns in objects are controlled by Pen #1.  Reserve that pen for fills then make that pen thicker
