Failed to open new document

I have recently dowloaded the 2012 revit software. I am trying to open a new document to start a new project and when I click on it, a window pops up saying 'failed to open document.' Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks...

Are you trying to open using a template? Have you installed the latest service pack published by Autodesk? If not it can be found in the below link:

No, I am not trying to open using a template. In fact averything I click on in that main page comes up as 'Failed to open Document'. Getting quite annoying. As for the service pack, I'll try to downnload it.

Hello,

I have been working on a Revit file, while it was being saved on my USB. Then my computer shut down, I later tried to access the file, but it would not open, and I am getting a "Failed to open document" message whenever I try opening it.

I need you to explain to me what I need to do asap please.

I also attached the file to this email, in case you found any solution to my problem.

Thank You.

I'm having a similar problem, but mine tells me, my machine doesn't have enough memory to open an existing file. The file was produced by an architect for a 40 story building. The file is only 169 megabytes and I have over 22 gigabytes of available hard drive space. I'm running Vista, with 4 gigs of RAM and a 2 Ghz processor. I shouldn't have this problem. I tried it on another machine that has over 49 gigs of hard drive space with the same results. I'm well within the system requirements listed for the product.

My problem has never been solved and even if it did get solved, I would not open any unknown document. sorry...

I have spoken to many people and noone has been able to figure out why I cant get past the main page. have you tried untistall and reinstalling the program? there is also a service pack that is required and that might (50/50) solve your problem. I say 50/50 because it didnt work for me.

**** luck and let me know if you find a solution

I have the 2013 version, so it's probably beyond that.

The source is a trusted source. I didn't just come opon it randomly. It was given to me by the project architect.

They may not have come up with a service pack for it yet....keep checking autodesks site to see if they have put it out yet. i know it annoying but it may be the solution.

Anyone out there on why I get  failed to open docucment in revit 2013.  System gave warrning that i could not save file.  What it saved was a partial of orignal which I could not open.  Installed Recuva(a recovery program) and it gave me failed to open docucment.
