Switching a default Marking Menu to Hotkey Press Doesn't work.

I wanted to switch CommonModelingPanes from the Hotbox to a shortcut. So I changed the setting in the Marking Menus preferences:

I then changed the hotkey:

Now, back in the viewport, if I press the assigned hotkey, absolutely nothing happens. I assigned it to "8", and no matter how many times I press 8, I get nothing.

I've spent way too much time trying to figure this out tonight, I really hope someone knows what's going on!

Help would be extremely appreciated.
