Paul.

I think that is "normal".  I see the same thing from the Inventor help.  Per the Inventor 2016 R2 Readme file Under Windows > Control Panel > Programs and Features... you should see the Inventor 2016 R2 listed there.

Not exactly sure why they did it that way, but it would have eliminated some confusion if they had made it say R2 there on the help screen.

I see the same thing as well. It looks like the R2 removes the last update.

I installed SP1 this morning.

I eventually installed R2 over the SP1, which worked. (also this morning)

Notes:

When I installed the Non-Subscription Service pack it did not work, the issue was the same as above.

It was listed in the Add/Remove programs, as SP1 but I don't think it was installed.

Testing:

The only test I did was to do a print of some concrete hatching With "SP1" installed, the hatching did not print, as per the software bug.

I did the same test with R2, this worked, so the conclusion I can come to is that SP1 did not install correctly.

This is what I see, Inventor is shown as installed 01/11/2015 that is because after SP1 was not showing I did a "REPAIR INSTALL",I tried to install SP1 again thats when I run into the problem of it NOT INSTALLING on running it just ask if I want to install and then nothng happens. The about STILL shows as in the above screen shot.

Can you post the Inventor 2016 SP1 logs from your TEMP folder?

Also you might check out Baocheng's post from this other post.

Thanks,

Danny

So I EVENTUALLY and NO HELP FROM AUTODESK, got SP1 to install by mucking well un-installing IV installing run once run the downloaded SP1 Non-subscription version.

Shouldn't need to muck around like this, I recall I had to do the same with update 2, now that's ALL my available activations gone anymore buggering around like this and I'll need to muck about more justifying my extra request with Autodesk.

This is BOTH A BLOODY AND UNNECESSARY.

Oh and yes the print, to paper/hard copy hatch problem has been fixed at long last

Hi Paul,

You're correct you shouldn't need to bugger about like that; sorry for the inconvenience. Could you provide us with your install log files as Danny requested, so that we can better understand what didn't work for you ?

If you have future activation issues just let me know & I'll sort it out for you.

Good to hear that the priniting issue is resolved; Thanks for confirming it.

I can't provide the logs as my systems housekeeping program auto deletes them when there more than 12 hours old. AND for some unknown reason your system has STOPPED sending me emails, it looks as if I've been unsubscribed for ALL topics and I can't re-subscribe to them thus the late reply to this message.

Ok Thanks Paul.

You seem to be using 2 different accounts, with different emails, to post to some of the forum topics. One is called Mason-Paul (email account is mason.XXXXXXXX@btinternet.com) & the other is called roc2328 (email account is mason.XXXX@btinternet.com). Does that explain why you're not getting notifications ?

Hi rhasell,

The issue that failed to install SP1 may be related to legacy update1. Could you please try below steps to see if it helps?

1. Remove current partial R2 from add/remove panel by clicking Autodesk Inventor 2016 R2. Skip it if you've done.

2. Remove Inventor 2016 English Language Pack SP1

Msiexec.exe /uninstall {C2B4B6F5-2010-1033-0064-E0CB94366A9C} /package {7F4DD591-2064-0001-1033-7107D70F3DB4} /qb

3. Remove Inventor 2016 SP1

Msiexec.exe /uninstall {C2B4B6F5-2000-1000-0064-E0CB94366A9C} /package {7F4DD591-2064-0001-0000-7107D70F3DB4} /qb

4. Remove Inventor 2016 Update 1 (Inventor SP1 supesedes it and you can also install it again later)

Msiexec.exe /promptrestart /qb /uninstall {D9AD67F6-F5D8-4377-8826-01687953EF10} /package {7F4DD591-2064-0001-0000-7107D70F3DB4} SETUP=1

5. Install R2 or SP1 again.

Thanks,

Baocheng
