How do you get an English Language Pack or do I have to download the whole PDSU and extract it just to install R2. It went through almost the whole update until near the end when the installer package couldn't find the Language Pack.

Hi Brandon,

you still have the problem that only SP1 shows in Application Manager, but no R2. right? May I know what license type you are using? standalone or network. did you changed your PrDS SN after installing products? is the SN expired for subscription? could you open Inventor -> Help -> open About Autodesk Inventor dialog -> open Product Information dialog and give us a screenshot for it? you can hide the SN.

I tried to update to Autodesk® Inventor 2016 R2 using the Autodesk Application Manager but, following download, I end up with a yellow warning triangle with a message saying simply '3221226536'; not particularly helpful.

Kevin--

I was able to successfully install R2 from the Autodesk Account downloads.

SP1 is showing in Application Manager, but R2 update does not appear in the Application Manager.

S/N has not changed. Standalone license. License was renewed in July(?) -- I am not the license administrator, if that makes any difference.

Thanks-

Brandon

You shouldn't need to download or install any language pack to get the R2 to install. But it sounds like the install thinks there is a problem with the language pack installed as part of your original Inventor install, a repair or reinstall of Inventor may fix it. Any chance you can post the Inventor 2016 SP1 and R2 log files from your temp folder?

Thanks,

Danny

you can get standalone LP from here.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/inventor-2...

when you install English LP, if you see installer says you have installed it, you can first uninstall it with command line: MsiExec.exe /X{7F4DD591-2064-0001-1033-7107D70F3DB4}, they try again.

We have installed the 2016 R2 Update on 9 workstations so far.  On 7 of them, it went fine; but on 2 of them, the Inventor About dialog still shows Update 2 (build 138) after the update runs; and the new Shape Generator features are not there.

The log files left in %TEMP% don't seem to indicate any problems.  The "Autodesk Inventor 2016 R2" log looks exactly like it does on the successful workstations, and it declares, "Autodesk Inventor 2016 SP1 is installed successfully!"

The log "Autodesk Inventor 2016 SP1.log" is 14000 lines long... but at the bottom, it too claims "Product: Autodesk Inventor 2016 - Update 'Autodesk Inventor 2016 SP1' installed successfully" and "Product: Autodesk Inventor 2016 -- Configuration completed successfully".

I've tried all of these things:

  • uninstalling the R2 update from the control panel and running it again
  • installing both with and without the /OPTOUT_KB2918614 that the release notes say can avoid slowdowns in cases where Inventor was installed from a network location -- which it was for us, I suppose; we install from a deployment on a network share, so we used this switch (and that worked out fine on 7 workstations).

  • turning off UAC (it was already off on one of the two)
  • Run as Administrator (pffft)
  • installing the smaller sp1 update first (About box still didn't change) and then R2 on top of that (nope)

The only thing that distinguishes these two workstations from the others is that they were recently rebuilt, after the release of Update 2.  So these two had Update 2 installed, but Update 1 was never installed (since Update 2 was cumulative).  (Yet the R2 log file notes, "Update1 is removed!"... because 2 was cumulative, I imagine... ?)

Is anyone else having this problem?  I'm on the verge of reverting these workstations to the original RTM build (no Update 1 or 2) and then applying the R2 update on top of that.  But, you know, blecch.

We run Product Design Suite Premium 2016.  I have attached the logs from the R2 installer on one of the problem workstations.

We have active subscription but I don't see the recent listing. Product Updates is sorted by date. At the very top is Autodesk BIM 360 add-in app R4 Update.

So it sounds like you found it in App Manager however it wasn't visible in your MyAccounts product update list.  We're exploring an issue on the MyAccounts side of things that might explain this.  Thank you for the information.

The App Manager seems to have some issues from time to time. On my work machine the App-Manager had the R2 update listed for download and install. On my machine at home (same account) it was unable to located the R2 update. I pulled it from my Subscription Account.

The R2 install was looking for the InventorLP.msi file, a simple download and extraction of the English Language Pack and pointing the R2 installer to the correct folder solved it's problem.

Hi blair,

thanks for your update. glad to hear you have solved the need English LP problem. but generally speaking, installing R2 should not need any LP. may I know did you installed R2 beta before? I suspose some files of English LP was damaged or not roback to RTM after uninstalling Beta.

as to the issue R2 was not shown in Applicaiton Manager on your home machine. could you right click the icon of Application Manager in the Task Bar and click Check Now button to refesh all updates? if that doesn't work for you, could you confirm the SN you are using is for subscription?

this error should means digital signature for this file cannot be verified. please update your Application Manager to the latest version 5.0.xxx.x, then, have a try again. if it doesn't work for you, please navigate to "C:\Users\username\Documents\Autodesk Application Manager", delete the folder "

D09ADEDB-5C7C-4227-A920-D3FBC3CFEA3B". and try to install R2 from Application manager again. if you still have the same problem, please open the folder "D09ADEDB-5C7C-4227-A920-D3FBC3CFEA3B", and double click "Inventor2016_R2.exe" to install it directly.

 Hi tcmtconneen,

Have your repaired those two R2 installing failure? I didn't encounter the R2 install failure on PrDS Premium. I think you just need to double click the Inventor2016_R2.exe to reinstall it.

if you install R2 via Application manager, you can find the R2 install package under

"C:\Users\username\Documents\Autodesk Application Manager\D09ADEDB-5C7C-4227-A920-D3FBC3CFEA3B"

Hi tcmtconneen,

Thank you for uploading your full logs. I found the issue was caused by mixed Inventor update1. You can see we removed an Inventor Update1 which is obsolete and replaced with a new one now. Could you try below steps to recover your environment and install R2 again?

1. Remove current partial R2 from add/remove panel by clicking Autodesk Inventor 2016 R2. Skip it if you've done.

2. Remove Inventor 2016 English Language Pack SP1

Msiexec.exe /uninstall {C2B4B6F5-2010-1033-0064-E0CB94366A9C} /package {7F4DD591-2064-0001-1033-7107D70F3DB4} /qb

3. Remove Inventor 2016 SP1

Msiexec.exe /uninstall {C2B4B6F5-2000-1000-0064-E0CB94366A9C} /package {7F4DD591-2064-0001-0000-7107D70F3DB4} /qb

4. Remove Inventor 2016 Update 1 (Inventor SP1 supesedes it and you can also install it again later)

Msiexec.exe /promptrestart /qb /uninstall {D9AD67F6-F5D8-4377-8826-01687953EF10} /package {7F4DD591-2064-0001-0000-7107D70F3DB4} SETUP=1

5. Install R2 again.

Regards,

Baocheng

So I have a question since I've heard it a couple of ways...

Is Inventor 2016 R2/SP1 only for users who have Inventor Profresional on Subscription?  Or can users with only Inventor (like PDS P, Factory Design, Building Design) install R2?

The 2016 R2 contains the usual collection of SP1 defect fixes plus additional new functionality only available to customers on subscription.  Inventor standalone users benifit from the addition of Shape Generator and Force Effect while Professional users also gain IDF workflows.  We've also broken out the SP1 fixes into a seperate installers for customers who are not on subscrption.  You can see this link for more info:
