A fine Friday to everyone!

I don't have a render today, i didn't really get round to anything... in fact i don't think i've managed to turn on my laptop this entire week...

But in the spirit of sharing, i got this fun little sideproject today:

2016-04-08_1311.png

It's a plate to fill a hole we punch in one of our machines, but some are optional so we want to cover them back up.

The shape is pretty old, i had to "reverse engineer" it from the coordinates i got from our cnc punch operator because it dates back from well before our CAM software usage... (i didn't even work at the company when it was created)

It's one of those times i'm happy Autodesk put the slot functionality into sketches. 🙂

So that's all i got.

Do any of you get little sideprojects like these as well?

Have a good weekend!

Hi everyone,

Nice Niels, I never tried reverse engineering like that!

Looks interesting.

Anyway here's mine.

I'm currently making a train environment to render our loading arms in.

It's a combination of Inventor and 3ds max model.

Although not finished, it's getting there.

Canopy still needs some work...

Happy weekend!

In honor of my favorite golf week of the year, Masters week, I did a quick model of a green, the cup, a couple balls and some tees.

Now I want to go play some golf.  LOL

Have a great weekend.

Capture.JPGNiels, man, you're making my head hurt trying to read that Gcode!  Reverse engineering stuff like that is why I've got a Renishaw probe and a program that spits out a DXF for me with a polyline generated from the probed points!

Anyway.  I'm getting ready to head out to the mill right now.  Got a couple of small parts to make.  I'll come back later and update with some video of cutting or some stills of the finished bits, maybe.

If I'd known there'd be extra kudos involved, I'd have made sure to get some of the mini Portal turrets in view also!

(Actually... now that I think about it ... I've been wanting to make a full-scale one for a halloween decoration .... hm.)

Anyway, re: coffee mug, normally that just sits on my shelf and I refill my Starbucks cup over and over and over again throughout the day.  Yesterday I was running late after taking the kid to school, so I didn't have time for Sbux and just used that cup all day instead.
